Dr. Simon At Work

Spinal Rehab, Nutritional Counseling & EMG

The Lancaster Chiropractic Rehab Center prides itself on offering many chiropractic firsts to the local community. Besides being one of the longest established chiropractic centers in Fairfield County (since 1950), the Lancaster Chiropractic Rehab Center is one of the first chiropractic offices to offer spinal functional rehabilitation, full service nutritional counseling and EMG/NCV neurodiagnostic services in the area. This is due in no small part to the fact that Dr. Simon is the first doctor of chiropractic in Ohio to become certified in spinal rehab (DACRB) and nutrition (DACBN). In addition, Dr. Simon is a certified disability evaluator (DABDA).

Spinal Rehabilitation

Most of the patients who come to the Center present with back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain or headaches which respond very well to chiropractic care alone. However, in all honesty, some do not respond. Their cases are more complicated and may involve more serious disorders such as a slipped or herniated disc or muscle imbalances among other things.

For these patients, spinal functional rehab may be the answer. Starting with a functional exam to assess the patient’s overall physical ability, the needy patient undergoes a program of therapeutic exercises designed specifically for him or her. These exercises are based upon standard rehab protocols involving isometric, isotonic and isokinetic muscle procedures. Periodically, the patient will be reassessed to ensure that appropriate progress is being made.

Nutritional Counseling

Have you ever wondered if you are eating the proper foods necessary to maintain a well balanced diet? Are you getting the right amount of vitamins and minerals in your daily meals? Are you deficient in any particular nutrient or are you eating foods that might actually be contributing to your ill health?

These and other questions can be answered by Dr. Simon and his staff at the Lancaster Chiropractic Rehab Center. After performing a thorough dietary and nutritional analysis which may include blood work. Dr. Simon will advise you on foods that should be in your diet for optimal health as well as those to avoid. In addition, Dr. Simon will prescribe a program of supplementation including proper vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids for you to take to help you be your best.

EMG & NCV

Has any doctor ever told you that you suffer from a "pinched nerve?" Have you ever thought about what tests might be performed to determine if a pinched nerve actually exists? As Chairman of the Council on EDX for the Ohio State Chiropractic Association, Dr. Simon has performed many such tests known as EMG/NCV exams. These procedures involve use of electrode dipoles to determine the conductivity or integrity of specific nerves and needle electrodes to determine the status of specific muscles. The EMG/NCV exam is useful in determining the presence (or absence) of pinched nerves that may be causing carpal tunnel syndrome, tarsal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, wrist drop, thoracic outlet syndrome, nerve palsies at the knee and many other nerve disorders.

Other Procedures

The Center also performs other specialized procedures that may not be routinely available at many chiropractic offices such as independent medical exams, drug testing, disability evaluations and many others. Call (740) 653-2973 if you have further questions.
